The 50th anniversary of the Shannons Nationals was a historical event, not just in number but also for the quality of racing that unfolded. In perfect weather conditions, the various events provided high levels of excitement, with great driving and nail biting finishes in both the sprint and endurance events. Matt Kingsley set a new course record in the enduro, only to have the record bettered later in the race by Roger Lago.
